What is moxie ?
Created in 1876 by Dr. Augustin Thompson of Union, Maine, Moxie was first marketed as a patent medicine in Lowell, Massachusetts under the product name “Moxie Nerve Food” and was said to cure ailments ranging from softening of the brain to “loss of manhood.” In 1884, it was sold in carbonated form and merchandised as an invigorating drink,
which claimed to endow the drinker with "spunk." In the early phase of its life as a recreational soft drink, Moxie is said to have been kept handy by bartenders to give to customers who were too drunk to be given any more alcohol. This story may be apocryphal, however, inspired by Moxie's (in)famous aftertaste that many people find unpleasantly strong, though Diet Moxie's aftertaste is a little less strong.
The popularity of Moxie produced popular advertising jingles such as "Just Make It Moxie for Mine" and president Calvin Coolidge was known to have favored the drink. Ted Williams also endorsed the soft drink. Author E.B. White, an adopted Mainer and noted Moxie fan, once wrote, "Moxie contains gentian root, which is the path to the good life." I'm a huge fan of the Burlesque period,The music, The Dancers and the cloths are fascinating to me. It takes me back to when I was a kid on Sunday mornings,
my mother would put on old Charlie Chaplin movies and I would watch them for hours without a peep. Even though there were color movies then, I still preferred to watch the black and white films. Roberta Pedon (born 1954 in Ohio) was a big-bust American glamour model who gained popularity in the 1970s.

However, she went by the stage names of Roberta Pedon, Melody O'Hare and Roberta Weaver. The nom-de-plume Melody O'Hare supposedly came from the name of one of her best friends in Junior High.
Although Roberta was "discovered" in the USA, she appeared for the first time in a Danish pornographic magazine.
She invariably dressed (and then undressed) as a hippie during most of her photo shoots. Her popularity was, however, rather short-lived; a few years after her debut she completely disappeared from the spotlight and retired in 1975. |

A pin-up girl or pin-up model is a model whose mass-produced pictures see wide appeal as pop culture. Intended for informal display, pin-ups are a light genre of pornography. Pin-up girls are often glamour models, fashion models, and actresses.
"Pin-up" may also refer to drawings, paintings and other illustrations done in emulation of these photos. The term was first attested to in English in 1941; however the practice is documented back at least to the 1890s. The “pin up” images could be cut out of magazines or newspapers, or be from postcard or chromo-lithographs, and so on. Such photos often appear on calendars, which are meant to be pinned up anyway. Later, posters of “pin-up girls” were mass-produced.
Many “pin ups” were photographs of celebrities who were considered sex symbols. One of the most popular early pin-up girls was Betty Grable. Her poster was ubiquitous in the lockers of GIs during World War II. Others pin-ups were artwork, often depicting idealized versions of what some thought a particularly beautiful or attractive woman should look like. An early example of the latter type was the Gibson girl, drawn by Charles Dana Gibson. The genre also gave rise to several well-known artists specializing in the field, including Alberto Vargas and George Petty, and numerous lesser artists such as Art Frahm.
The term “cheesecake” is synonymous with “pin-up photo”. The earliest documented print usage of this sense of “cheesecake” is in 1934, predating “pin-up”, although anecdotes say the phrase was in spoken slang some 20 years earlier, originally in the phrase (said of a pretty woman) “better than cheesecake”.
